Serving on the ABC School Board is an opportunity to help enrich the lives of every young person in our community. That is the fundamental reason I am seeking a fourth term as your elected representative.
My record demonstrates a focused commitment to the interests of students regardless of their age, attendance area or achievement level. Please be assured that this focus will only sharpen during my next four years. My philosophy is straightforward. It includes a belief in the necessity of strong community involvement in schools, setting high academic standards, high levels of staff accountability and careful planning in budgeting. My history on the ABC Board shows I walk my talk.
Indeed, the examples listed are built upon this philosophy. Although we are a good district we need to have a vision of our educational future to ensure we are meeting the needs of students to come. I am asking you to elect me to another term so I may continue my efforts to lead our District into the 21st Century.

Cecy Groom is a 3rd time re-elected ABC Unified School Board Official since 1987, having served twice as President. Cecy worked to reduce class size, expand qualified language programs, support innovative and proven teaching methods that work, improve test scores, and balance the school budgets, without layoffs or program cuts.
Cecy Groom successfully fought Los Angeles County's attempt to place the ABC School District into receivership. By maintaining local control of our children's education, and using her business skills as a C.P.A., Cecy transformed a $3.5 million dollar deficit into a $10 million dollar surplus in addition to obtaining a 10.5% pay increase for all teachers and employees of the district.
